Dr. Samantha McKinney
DVM and Practice Owner
Samantha McKinney is a 2005 graduate of Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is originally from Las Cruces, NM and had practiced in Farmington, NM for six years before becoming co-owner of Bosque Animal Clinic in 2011. As of October 2016, she is the sole owner of Bosque Animal Clinic.
Her family consists of five dogs Paisley, Mazie, Bonnie, Dixie and Chucho (the toothless dachshund); four cats Lulu, Junebug, Hunter and Peaches; a bearded Dragon Hera; an albino leopard gecko Artimus; an Green Amazon Parrot Ozzy; and two goats Daisy and Oreo. She also has two active, growing, boys Andrew and Ryan who help take care of the McKinney Zoo. As you can imagine she’s a pretty busy woman!
Her professional interests include canine and feline internal medicine, dentistry, and pocket pets with a specific focus on ferrets. She cherishes being a veterinarian of a small community as it allows her to foster friendships and see many pets through all life stages.
Dr. McKinney is a breast cancer survivor. In 2015 at the age of 36 she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. After surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy she is now CANCER FREE. She is happy to discuss her experiences with anybody as she knows first-hand how scary it can be to be diagnosed with cancer.
